Join a Conference On Mobilizing In Response to the Opioid Epidemic

As you’re well aware, the opioid crisis has reached a critical stage. Drug overdoses are now the leading cause of unintentional death in the U.S., and opioids are a primary contributor. To address the impact of this epidemic and highlight strategies for overcoming it, UVA Center for Global Health and the Center for Global Innovation and Inquiry will host a two-day conference for healthcare professionals and community members Sept. 26-27 to discuss an appropriate community-based response.

Speakers will include infectious disease specialists, nurses and community leaders from Canada who have developed innovative care solutions for substance use and related epidemics, as well as local representatives from UVA, the Virginia Department of Health, Region 10 and others.

Attendees are eligible for Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit. CME credit from 2 hours of this conference will fulfill the Virginia Board of Medicine opioid training requirement.
